During the years 1960 to 1973 the french daughter of Hornby, MECCANO, produced under the name HORNBY ACHOrailroad models in H0 scale. in the beginning production was located at Bobigny upon Seine nearby Paris, later at Calais. Respecting their time, the models had been made in a very nice quality and design. It had been a selection of models from french originals, the only exception had been the 1962er Rheingold ram of the Deutsche Bundesbahn, whose forms had been produced by the suisse Ruco company.

Today you can still find HORNBY ACHO models on secondhand markets and at auctions. But it is a rather small circle of collectors and modelists who take care of them. Therefore it is hard to get information.

This site wants, beneath others, I mention further down, to contribute to keep this manufactorer and his models in memory and to give a certain overview.

I want want to express thanks to Michael Gerke who contributed very much of the scans, Thierry Delcourt for putting up the very voluminous list of articles, the participants of the HORNBY ACHO Newsgroup and all who have contributed with their photos.
